Reflections

"The February Man is a fascinating case study illustrating the use of profound age regression in the treatment of a depressed young woman. Erickson assumes the supportive role of the 'February Man' who 'visits' the woman many times during the course of four lengthy psychotherapeutic sessions. During these sessions, he utilizes classical hypnotic phenomena such as age regression, time distortion, automatic writing, amnesia, and others, to explore the patient's entire childhood and youth. As the 'February Man,' he provides her with the seeds for new developments in her adult personality."

Introduction, The February Man, Ernest Lawrence Rossi, Ph.D., Erickson and Rossi, Brunner/Mazel, Inc., New York, 1989, p. xi.

The Chancellor: Elsom Eldridge, Jr.

elsom_eldritch.jpeg

One of the great men of the National Guild of Hypnotists, a Governor of the Order of Braid, Elsom Eldridge, Jr. is a crossover figure. He is a distinguished educator and is known internationally as "the consultant's consultant," has trained over 100,000 consultants in best practices, and is a world-recognized authority on the marketing and management of professional practices.

In addition to co-authoring How to Position Yourself as The Obvious Expert with his son, Mark Eldridge, he also co-authored The Ultimate Home Study Action Course For Maximum Success in the Consulting Business with Dan Kennedy and The Encyclopedia of Consulting with Howard Shenson. He is the author of more than three dozen books, audio and video learning packages, research reports and other publications.

Eldridge holds a Master's Degree (Ed.M.) in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Eldridge designed one of the earliest interdisciplinary arts programs for preschoolers, Exploring The Arts, to get children started in the arts as young as possible under the belief, later proven by research, that music and art exposure at a young age positively affects student academic performance for life.  He studied with Dr. Howard Gardner at Harvard, adapting Myers-Briggs typologies for nursery school children utilizing art work from the children and observations from parents and teachers.

He promoted an educational system that helped teachers and parents more accurately understand and respond to the learning styles of children.  Eldridge hypothesized that if teachers taught to a child's learning style it would significantly improve the quality of education. His pioneering work indicated that such an approach would greatly enhance both social life and learning.

In addition to his professional stature, Eldridge's genuine ethic of service and generosity in helping others achieve great professional success has made him an exceptionally beloved, as well as respected, figure.
